Canada National Forest Week an opportunity for youth involvement

Nawiinginokiima Forest Management Corporation (NFMC) is proud to celebrate National Forest Week Sept. 18-24, 2022.

MARATHON—Nawiinginokiima Forest Management Corporation (NFMC) is proud to celebrate National Forest Week, taking place Sept. 18-24, 2022.

NFMC shared an invitation by the Canadian Institute of Forestry, (CIF) on their social media page inviting all communities in the region to recognize the importance of the forestry sector to Canadian culture and future. “The CIF invites everyone, “To learn more about the forest sector and its significance to Canada’s culture, history, and future, while also supporting a greater recognition of forests as a valuable, renewable and green resource," shared NFMC.

NFMC’s statement highlighted the many important roles that our forest play including:

  • Reducing climate change
  • Softening the impact of a changing climate and extreme weather

In addition, as part of the week’s celebration is also offering their NFMC’s Annual National Forest Week Kids Colouring Contest, with the help of Marathon grocer, Sirard's Independent Grocer.

Parents, guardians and care-givers are asked to have their child submit their coloured pages with their name, age, and their contact information on the back, and return the entries to Sirard's Independent Grocer. All completed entries will go into a random draw for an NFMC prize pack.
