THUNDER BAY – The District of Thunder Bay has recorded its 97th death related to COVID-19.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit on Friday announced the latest victim, the 27th person to die with the virus.
The health unit also announced 30 new confirmed cases, noting the active confirmed case count had dropped to 82, the fewest since there were 70 on Dec. 23, 2021. Case counts are not considered an accurate number because of the lack of molecular testing available to the public.
There have been 12,596 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the district since the pandemic began more than two years ago, 8,692 of which have occurred this year.
