The frigid blast of winter weather that hit the region is expected to end this weekend, as temperatures around Greenstone and the North Shore return to normal seasonal highs and lows.

Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson said that the normal high is -7 C and a normal overnight low of -22 C.

“We are not going to be too far off those values for Saturday and a little milder than that as we head into Sunday,” said Coulson.

Environment Canada is calling for around two centimetres of snow and winds gusting up to 15 kilometres per hour with a high of -9 C, and wind chill values around -27 in the morning and -14 in the afternoon. Sunday is expected to be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of flurries and a low of -25 C.

“Similar situation for the North Shore as well. We got temperatures remaining chilly into tonight and extend into the day on Saturday as well, but when we get into Sunday and Monday, we see those temperatures moderating,” Coulson said.

Saturday will be mainly cloudy with 15 kilometres per hour winds and a 70 per cent chance of light snow and a high of -10 C, along with wind chill values around -25 in the morning and -13 in the afternoon.

On Sunday, there will be a mix of sun and cloud with 40 per cent chance of flurries and a high of minus 8. Overnight shows cloudy periods with 40 per cent chance of flurries and a low minus 19.
