MARATHON – The Town of Marathon remains diligent in monitoring the situation as it pertains to COVID-19. We continue to evaluate all Public Health Agency communications as well as communications from other Federal and Provincial Government Health Authorities. The health and well-being of our residents is of great importance.
Based on Ontario’s response to the Omicron variant and the introduction of 50 per cent capacity limits in public settings, the following COVID-19 protocols are now in place effective immediately at municipal facilities:
- The Marathon Arena will have a capacity limit of 320 users and no food or drink will be allowed in the facility;
Port Hole Pool will have a capacity of 62 users and no food or drink will be allowed in the facility; - Lakeview Community Hall will have a capacity of 88 users and no food or drink will be allowed in the facility;
- Marathon X-Country Ski Clubhouse will have a capacity limit of 50 users and no food or drink will be allowed in the facility;
- Those users participating in organized sports (hockey, figure skating, Aquafit, boot camp, lunch lengths) will be allowed individual drinks for hydration purposes;
- Active proof of vaccine screening, physical distancing, mask wearing and hand hygiene remain in place at all municipal facilities.
“The introduction of capacity limits at this time of the year is unfortunate, but we still have the opportunity to access and use our municipal facilities safely and responsibly. I continue to encourage our residents to get vaccinated or their booster shot if they have not yet done so,” states Mayor Rick Dumas.
