THUNDER BAY – There are just 17 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the District of Thunder Bay, though seven of the patients remain in intensive care.

That’s the fewest number of hospitalized patients in several months, according to statistics provided by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.

The health unit on Monday announced 71 new COVID-19 cases, though with reduced testing capacity, the numbers are likely understating the true number of cases in the region.

There were no new deaths.

There have been 10,111 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began, with 123 considered active.
