RED ROCK—According to a post on the Township of Red Rock’s Facebook, representatives from various Cruise Lines from around the globe travelled along the North Shore Inside Passage for what is being referred to as a, “planners scouting trip”.
The purpose of the trip which started in Thunder Bay on July 27, was to see if there is potential for cruise ships to come in 2023 or 2024.
On July 28, the guests arrived in Red Rock on a zodiac operated Sail Superior, then on July 29 headed to the communities of Rossport, Terrace Bay and back to Thunder Bay on July 31.
The guests were there along the route looking at infrastructures for mooring and disembarking. In addition, they stopped in communities to dine, stay and explore.
The Township of Red Rock also reported that these guests took the time to hike to Lloyd’s Lookout, ate at the Red Pebbles Café, stayed at the Red Rock Inn, and visited the Red Rock Interpretive Centre.
This was organized and made possible by Stephen Burnett of the Great Lakes Cruise Association in partnership with Destination Northern Ontario and by Superior Country in Partnership with Parks Canada for managing the development of a 'Lake Superior North Shore Cruise Market Readiness Plan'.
