MARATHON—There are only two days left to register for the Marathon Family Health Team, “Step Outside Challenge”.

They updated details regarding this challenge wanting participants to know that research has shown the many benefits that results from increasing your daily step count. In fact according to the Marathon Family Health Team, “It’s more important for health to go from 3,000 to 4,000 steps per day than it is to go from 8,000 to 9,000 steps per day.”

They ensured participants that every step counts when it comes to improving health.

So if you have been hesitant to register for the “Step Outside Challenge”, take note of the benefits that walking brings and take the time to register soon.

The Marathon Family Health Team also shared specific details about this challenge. The goal is to increase your physical activity levels by increasing your daily step count. In addition, they indicated that all types of physical activities will count towards the challenge but you are encouraged to accumulate steps by participating in outdoor physical activities.

In addition, they want participants to know that you can register for the difficulty level of your choice and that you will receive points based on whether or not you achieve your personal step goal. Your points will then be added to your team total.

Participants must be 12 years of age and older to register. Residents of Marathon, Biigtigong Nishnaabeg and Netmizaggaamig Nishnaabeg are also encouraged to register for this challenge.

Interested participants can register now by visiting: https://mfht.org/step-outside-challeng/

The Marathon Family Health Unit wants everyone to have fun “stepping up” your physical activity by teaming up with your friends, family members, colleagues and neighbours.
