THUNDER BAY — The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay district has increased slightly from Friday.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit on Monday morning reported that there are currently 87 active cases, five more than on Friday.
Forty-six new cases were confirmed over the weekend.
Because of the lack of molecular testing available to the public, health officials caution that the prevalence of the virus in the community is likely much higher than indicated by the official case count.
According to TBDHU data, 22 people with COVID-19 are currently admitted to district hospitals.
Five of these patients are in the ICU.
