Driver charged after single motor vehicle collision

A motor vehicle collision in Rocky Bay First Nation has resulted in multiple charges including impaired operation.

ROCKY BAY FIRST NATION – According to OPP Northwest Region, on the morning of June 2 officers from the Nipigon OPP Detachment were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision in Rocky Bay First Nation.

Upon speaking with the driver, the officers determined the driver was impaired by alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.

As a result, a 24-year-old from Rocky Bay First Nation has been charged with impaired driving and driving while under suspension, driving while prohibited, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The driver faces a 90-day licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released from custody and will appear before the court at a later date.
