WAWA—May 1, 2022 to May 7, 2022 is a week that the Municipality of WAWA wants its residents to know is “National Emergency Preparedness Week.”

This is an annual initiative that was first launched in 1996, and represents a collaborative event promoted by provincial and territorial emergency management organizations.

The goal is to support activities at the local level, in unison with Public Safety Canada.

NEP week encourages all Canadians to recognize three simple steps that will help them be better prepared to face a variety of emergency situation. These steps are: “Know the risks, make a plan and get an emergency kit.”

The Municipality of Wawa explains that you should take the time to build an emergency kit, complete a family emergency plan, and test this plan with your family members. A helpful outline for as to how to build an emergency kit is available at getprepared.ca
