SUPERIOR NORTH – Environment Canada warning those in the region to bundle up.

The government weather agency says temperatures of -26C to -32C with wind chill values between -40 and -45 are expected Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

Temperatures are expected to slowly rise later this morning.

Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.

Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frostbite and hypothermia.

Extreme cold warning is in effect for:

  • Geraldton - Longlac - Caramat
  • Manitouwadge - Hornepayne
  • Nakina - Aroland - Pagwa
  • Armstrong - Auden - Wabakimi Park
  • Beardmore - Jellicoe - Macdiarmid
  • Gull Bay - Black Sturgeon Lake
