Cold weather

SUPERIOR NORTH -- Environment Canada advising to bundle up as extreme cold continues.

The government weather agency states Friday morning wind chill values near -40C are expected and similar conditions are expected for many areas Friday night into Saturday morning.

Temperatures near or below -30C combined with moderate winds will bring wind chill values near -40C.

Watch for cold related symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.

Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant.

Make sure you cover up as frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

Extreme cold remains in effect for:

  • Wawa - Pukaskwa Park
  • White River - Dubreuilville
  • Marathon - Schreiber
  • Nipigon - Rossport
  • Beardmore - Jellicoe - Macdiarmid
  • Gull Bay - Black Sturgeon Lake
