SUPERIOR NORTH -- Environment Canada is warning residents to bundle up Thursday morning as wind chill values will be near -45.
The government weather agency states temperatures and wind chill values will moderate slightly during the day, however, similar extreme cold conditions are expected again Thursday night into Friday morning.
Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
Dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant.
Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.
If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside.
Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
Extreme cold warning is in effect for:
- Peawanuck
- Fort Severn
- Fort Hope - Lansdowne House - Ogoki
- Webequie
