SUPERIOR NORTH -- A multi-day episode of very cold wind chills continues in parts of the region.

Environment Canada says wind chill values near -40C to -45C are expected with minimum temperatures between -28C and -32C through Thursday moning.

Temperatures and wind chill values will temporarily moderate in the afternoon before dropping again this evening.

Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.

Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.

Extreme cold warning is in effect for:

  • Peawanuck
  • Armstrong - Auden - Wabakimi Park
  • Nakina - Aroland - Pagwa
  • Fort Severn
