Extreme cold warning remains in effect

Cold weather warning remains in effect for the region Tuesday morning.

SUPERIOR NORTH -- Environment Canada is again warning residents to bundle up this morning.

The government weather agency states a period of very cold wind chills continues Tuesday morning, with wind chill values near -40C.

Wind chill values are expected to be near -45C for Peawanuck, Fort Severn and Webequie.

Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.

Watch for cold related symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.

Cover up as frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.
