SUPERIOR NORTH – Environment Canada warning those in the Webequie area to bundle up.
The government weather agency issued an extreme cold warning Tuesday morning for Webequie stating the area will experience low temperatures of -30C to -34C with wind chill values near -45C through to Tuesday through Wednesday morning.
The advisory was updated Wednesday morning to say persons in or near this area should be on the lookout for adverse weather conditions and take necessary safety precautions and to watch for updated statements.
The weather agency wants to remind residents to watch for cold related symptoms, such as shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
Make sure to cover up as frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.
Check on older family, friends and neighbours.
Watch for colour changes on fingers and toes, pain, numbness, a tingling sensation, or swelling. If present, move indoors and begin warming.
