MARATHON – A rainfall warning has been issued by Environment Canada for communities along the north shore of Lake Superior.

Marathon, Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Nipigon, Rossport and Longlac are among the communities that could expect between 30 and 50 millimetres of rain to fall on Monday.

Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning on Sunday, as a storm gets set to move across the region.

Geraldton, Longlac and Caramat are also under a special weather statement.

According to Environment Canada, icy conditions could present themselves on Tuesday, leading to icy and slippery surfaces and a risk of freezing rain or snow as temperatures dip below 0 C.

Freezing rain warnings may be issued as the system approaches.
