Environment Canada is forecasting weather conditions to get messy for some portions of the Superior North region.

The agency issued a freezing rain warning for areas to the east of Thunder Bay, including Nipigon and Greenstone, on Sunday morning, with freezing rain expected through the day and changing to ice pellets and snow into the evening and into Monday morning.

Environment Canada said the storm system could result in up to eight millimetres of ice build-up.

The weather is expected to cause slippery conditions, which is likely to make travel difficult.
