Getting vaccinated best protection against the flu and COVID-19

Area residents were reminded recently that the best protection against the flu and COVID-19 is to get vaccinated.

HORNEPAYNE—Several superior North health units are reminding residents that the best protection against the flu and COVID-19 is to get vaccinated. Porcupine Health Unit, (PHU) informed its area residents that the flu and COVID-19 vaccines are available through your healthcare provider and a local pharmacy.

In addition, PHU wants everyone to know that they have started offering flu clinics across the area in November, so that you can now book your appointments.

You can also get your flu vaccine from a pharmacy in your area or your health care provider.

The flu vaccine is free and everyone six months of age and older is eligible. If you are 12 years of age or older, and had your last COVID-19 shot three or more months ago, you can now get the bivalent booster which targets the omicron variants.

Those who wish to get both the flu and COVID-19 vaccine and are older than five years of age, you can get both at the same appointment.

Residents who want to get their flu or COVID-19 vaccine from the Porcupine Health Unit office in their area can visit: phu.fyi/flu-shot or call 1-800-461-1818.
