NIPIGON — The newest member of Nipigon's council has been chosen.
After John Zechner resigned in late January, the town of Nipigon set out to find a new individual to fill the vacancy.
Instead of holding a by-election, Council decided to select a new member by appointment.
The deadline for application was set for Feb. 24 of which five members of the community applied.
Glenn Hart, who had previously ran in last year's municipal election, was selected for the role.
As a prominent member of the community, Hart’s skills are multifaceted. As an information technology specialist and geologist, his skills will bring a perspective to Nipigon’s economic and community development, according to Mayor Suzanne Kukko.
“He is a great addition to the council and we welcome him,” said Kukko.
