GREENSTONE – Greenstone has launched a new survey to obtain the input of residents about what they want to see from their emergency services.
The Municipality of Greenstone has contracted The Loomex Group to review its emergency services and assist Greenstone Fire and Emergency Services with developing a progressive and inclusive Fire Master Plan.
Mayor James McPherson said that the fire master plan will be a part of the new council’s strategic plan and as part of this project, the Municipality’s residents are invited to voice their concerns or suggestions regarding the emergency and fire services currently being delivered in their community.
“It's budget season for the municipality, and so we're reaching out to the residents to find their feelings on what different services that we have, what they would prefer, what they're willing to pay for it,” he said.
“Because everything costs money, costs have gone up significantly, staff are very tough to find, we are in a rural community, so we have to work hard to retain staff."
According to the municipality, a fire master plan is an evidence-based, community risk driven plan that guides the priorities and objectives of a fire department which supports fire departments to be responsive, proactive, and meet the growing needs of a community.
McPherson urges residents to take part in the survey as it will affect everyone in the municipality and says that the input from Greenstone residents is very important to this process.
“That's what will give us direction as to how we're going to move the municipality along and how to make it a better place,” he said.
The survey can be found here and is completely anonymous.
