Greenstone windrow contract topic of discussion at council meeting

Rural snow window removal contract topic of Greenstone Council discussion.

GREENSTONE—Greenstone Municipal Council spent time discussing the rural snow window removal contract at their recent council meeting.

As Mayor Renald Beaulieu explains, things will not be any different this year. “We looked at it this year, but it’s coming up again in January for review. But we needed to hire someone to do the windows, which was again a challenge,” stated Beaulieu. “It’s always a challenge and hard, because it seems to have the people put out their names or want to do the job, and contract it out,” added the mayor. Yet this year no one replied to their request for bids.

In line with the Municipality’s Procurement Policy, Council sent out an invitation in June 8, 2022, requesting bids for this contract. No bids were received, and as a result, the Municipality sought to entered into an agreement with a contractor.

Typically, the Public Services Department administers and delivers the Snow Windrow Removal Program in accordance with the current program policy. The Municipality Procurement Policy states however that, “contracts exist to facilitate program delivery within the targeted service timelines.”

Mayor Beaulieu, confirmed the granting of this contract stating that, “Council has approved the awarding of the service contract to Barino’s Construction, Longlac, for the rural window removal.”
