Heat warnings issued for most of the region

Daytime high temperatures expected to approach or exceed 30 C for many areas

The arrival of summer is bringing hot weather.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for several areas in the region, forecasting a multi-day heat event beginning Tuesday and lasting through the week.

Daytime high temperatures are expected in the high 20s and low 30s, with the overnight lows remaining in the mid to high teens.

"Extreme heat will begin today with some relief through the nights for some areas as nighttime lows may be below alert criteria," the advisory stated. "However, the extreme heat is expected to continue through the week."

The affected area encompasses Greenstone, Manitouwadge, Hornepayne, and areas to the north.

For Lake Superior north shore areas, daytime high temperatuers are expected to remain in the mid 20s.
