NIPIGON — A section of the Trans-Canada Highway in Northwestern Ontario was reopened late Tuesday afternoon after being closed to traffic Tuesday due to poor road and weather conditions.

Highway 17 was closed between Nipigon and Marathon for much of the day as snow continued to fall in the area.

Environment Canada forecast that snow, ice pellets and/or freezing rain would continue along the north shore of Lake Superior through Tuesday evening.
