WAWA — Highway 17, south of Wawa has reopened as of Thursday morning after being closed due to heavy rainfall and flooding.

According to Ontario 511, the closure, which extended from just south of Wawa to the Montreal River area, was lifted after crews inspected and cleared the roadway.

This is the second time in a week that this stretch of highway has been shut down due to severe weather.

However, lane and south shoulder closures remain in effect on Highway 129 southbound at Black Creek Road (E) near Aubrey Falls, due to ongoing maintenance.

Motorists are advised to check Ontario 511 for the latest updates before travelling.
