HORNEPAYNE — The Township of Hornepayne is hosting a special meeting on Thursday, as part of their public consultation for Hornepayne’s Community expansion and upgrades.

Mayor Cheryl Fort said it's important to provide a forum for community groups, stakeholders and residents to be able to speak about how they believe the funds that were secured for the expansion and upgrades should be spent.

“Public consultation is on now for our new arena expansion. Hornepayne was successful in securing dollars to renovate our arena,” Fort said. “We are looking to the public to ask them what they want.”

Fort said the Township has received just under $5 million for the project. The public consultation begins at 5 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion branch.

The mayor said the plans include several features.

“The expansion includes adding an addition for a library, a weight room facility and some space for our seniors,” she said.

This open house will give everyone a chance to view the upgrade options provided by JLR Group, ask questions and give comments both verbally and in writing.
