Duane Gaudreau, public works manager for the municipality shared how to date the project has completed resurfacing work, as well as installing new lighting at the airport. “We have just finished resurfacing and installing new lighting. The next thing will include changing the fuelling system and windows on the terminal building,” said Gaudreau.

Funding for the project has been provided partly by the municipality and partly by the government, who is funding this project through available government grants.

The airport falls under the umbrella of Hornepayne Public Works Dept., and staff is available to fuel aircraft at specific times during the summer and winter months.

According to Gaudreau, health organizations, charters, the MNR and personal private use, are the main groups who use the airport. “Organizations such as Medivac, charter planes and personal private planes use the airport,” stated Gaudreau.

The Municipality is very excited about their Municipal Airport and the renovations planned for it. “It’s a huge project for Hornepayne, we never expected this for us,” added Gaudreau.
