HORNEPAYNE — Save the Date. The Municipality of Hornepayne reminded residents that it isn’t too late to hold onto hazardous waste items, and save them for proper disposal at the community’s Annual Hazardous Waste Collection Day.
Oct. 1 is the day when hazardous waste collection is occurring. The location is Hornepayne’s Community Arena, Parking Lot, 1 Tower Toad, where bins for electronics will be provided for drop off as well.
Important tips were provided:
- DO NOT mix materials.
- Materials will not be accepted unless clearly marked.
- If the container is damaged, package the container in a plastic bag in order not to spill it during the journey to the collection site.
- Wash your hands thoroughly after handling the chemicals.
What will NOT BE ACCEPTED:
- Commercial, industrial or institutional wastes.
- Radioactive materials, explosives, fireworks, ammunition, biological wastes, PCB wastes, helium or Freon tanks or unknown waste.
- Old electronics and tires.
