HORNEPAYNE—Porcupine Health Unit wants rural residents who rely on well water to ask themselves, “How Well is your Well?”

If you live in rural areas, chances are your family daily water supply comes from a well on your property. The Porcupine Health Unit is offering these residents free testing services for home owners.

They want home owners to know that bottles for this service can be picked up at any of the Porcupine Health Unit offices. According to the Porcupine Health Unit website, “Safe drinking water is vital to our health and quality of life. Unprotected water sources can result in potential exposure to numerous types of microorganisms that can cause illness.”

Water test results will help determine whether or not bacteria are at safe levels. Porcupine Health Unit encourages residents to visit their website for more information about this free service and how to properly take a water sample.
