HORNEPAYNE -- Hornepayne’s Porcupine Health Unit has updated its guidelines for COVID-19 exposure for residents
The Township of Hornepayne posted an announcement by Hornepayne’s Health Unit on Dec. 23 offering guidelines for residents who may have been exposed to COVID-19.
The posting highlighted two parts; the first indicated what residents should do if they believe that they have been exposed to COVID-19, while the second part offers recommendations if they are not required to isolate.
The Health Unit suggests that one is not required to self-isolate if they meet ALL of the following criteria:
- You are not a household contact, AND
- You are fully vaccinated, AND
- You do not have any symptoms of COVID-19, AND
- You are not immunocompromised.
Further guidelines included if you work in a high risk-setting, in which case they are to refer to the information below, before returning to work.
If you said yes to all of the above questions, self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms daily for 10 days from the date on which you were exposed. Avoid non-essential visits to settings with vulnerable individuals (i.e., volunteering or visiting long-term care homes, shelters, or childcare settings). If you develop symptoms, self-isolate immediately and get tested.
Do I need to inform my employer?
All individuals who have been exposed to COVID-19, are encouraged to advise their employer and follow their guidance.
Individuals who live, attend, work or volunteer in a high-risk setting, must advise their employer of the exposure. High-risk settings include hospitals, long-term care facilities, retirement homes, congregate living settings (i. e. shelters), schools and childcare settings. Your employer will complete an assessment before confirming whether or not you can return to work in one of these high-risk settings.
