KAPUSKASING—Ontario’s largest St. John Festival is back and the Municipality of Kapuskasing is proud to host this great event.
The municipality shared this announcement with their community stating it is, “Proud to have contributed to the return of this great French-speaking festival."
The Regional Center for Cultural Recreation announced that it will present the 23rd edition of the Festival de la St. Jean in Kapuskasing June 2022 after a two year absence due to the pandemic.
Their announcement described how each year the Franco-Ontarian community comes together for St. Jean Day when more than 35,000 Franco-Ontarians and Francophiles take part in a festival, that first began in 1999.
This year the new committee promises to focus on its family side where as the Regional Centre for Cultural Recreation states that, “Numerous activities and a colourful musical program will be organized to thrill young and old alike. We are convinced that our programming will appeal to all tastes,” explains Andy Deschamps, president of the St. Jean de Kapuskasing committee.
On Thursday, June 16, they plan on kicking off the festivities by inviting everyone to the “Megacinema” inside the Kapuskasing Sports Palace.
Friday, June 17, the second day of the festival, they will be going back to the arena where music from Franco-Ontarian Mehdi Cayenne, a singer-songwriter and poet will be featured.
Saturday, June 18, the theme of the festival will transport the audience back to the 1990s with the first time, Les Freres a Ch’val takes place, featuring a variety of musical styles.
The Regional Centre for Cultural Recreation, committee invites everyone to come out and looks forward to seeing everyone at the Ontario’s largest St. John Festival.
