The Golden Age Centre is letting seniors know that they are well into planning their fall activities.

KAPUSKASING—The Township of Kapuskasing’s Golden Age Centre is planning its fall season activities.

It recently informed its senior members that although they have a variety of activities already planned for fall they are hoping to start a few before September.

They encourage any senior member who has ideas for activities to drop-in at the office and share them. Some of the already planned activities include line dancing, yoga for seniors, fitness, painting and knitting courses.

One activity in particular that they are very excited about offering their members is their fall trip to Ottawa.

Denise Girouard, coordinator for activities at the centre was excited to share information about this trip.

It is scheduled for Sept.29, to Oct. 2, 2022, and Alan Jackson and Garth Brooks concert. The deadline to reserve a space is Sept. 15, 2022.

“We have this trip scheduled to Ottawa. We are going to a concert but it is a cultural trip as well. So, we will be going to the tourist attractions in Ottawa like the Royal Canadian Mint,” said Girouard. “If you are interested you must be a member, and membership fee is $15, as well as be 50 plus,” added Girouard.

She emphasized that if you are interested you should register soon as the limit for the trip is 35 people.

For more information and to register call Denise at 705-335-6510, or visit the office.

Girouard also shared information about the centre’s fall schedule of activities. They currently have scheduled yoga classes, knitting classes and many more. “We also have a daily lunch every Wednesday starting Sept. 21, 2022,” stated Girouard.

In addition, the centre has celebrations for seniors 80 plus, a yearly bazaar, and many Christmas activities.

As coordinator, Girouard and her team has been busy making sure that members at the Golden Age Centre stay active, engage in activities and take part in great events such as this trip to Ottawa.
