Kapuskasing hosting Mental Health of young workers seminar

Mental health has certainly become a more common topic of concern since the pandemic. Programs and initiatives to help support mental health needs are also increasing in number. The Municipality of Kapuskasing is hosting a Mental Health of Youth Workers seminar to support mental health initiatives in their community.

KAPUSKASING—The Municipality of Kapuskasing informed their community that it is hosting a Mental Health of Young Workers seminar.

With guest speaker, Lindsay Digby, the seminar will be held June 8, 2022, from 1 tp 2 p.m. via Zoom.

According to their notice, the seminar is intended for employers and supervisors who plan on hiring young workers or who have already hired young workers. It stated that, “This workshop provides an overview of how and why young workers think and act the way they do, and how to best interact with them and support their mental health.”

The one-hour session is being described as a facilitated conversation, to be delivered in and “engaging and non-threatening manner.”

Topics will include:

  • The difference between online and real life.
  • The rise of anxiety.
  • Anxiety in youth.
  • The use of social media.
  • What we can do to support.
