MARATHON: The Municipality of Marathon has recently received several inquiries into the possibility of it amending its municipal bylaws to allow for community members to keep domesticated poultry in residential areas.
Although some municipalities in the province of Ontario has allowed for this to be possible, the Municipality answered resident questions about thistopic, by indicating that at the current time, municipal Administration is researching the matter further.
According to their recent notice to residents, Administration shared that, “Once this research is complete, Council will be provided with the information for their review and further direction which may include further public consultation or delegations.”
Council indicated that this is anticipated to be discussed at a regularly scheduled Council meeting in October and will be communicated at that time.
Until then, “Don’t count your chickens before they hatch!”
