MANITOUWADGE — The Kiwissa Ski Club will have equipment rentals available this season after al.
The ski club and Township of Manitouwadge announced on Sunday that ski hill equipment rentals will be available this season, after it was initially said that would not be the case.
On behalf of the Kiwissa Ski Club, we have offered the Township the use and operation of the ski rental equipment for the 2023 ski season," ski club president Lisa Schut said in a news release. "We are pleased to offer the equipment along with a gift to the users that the equipment be made available at no cost for 2023."
The township held a special council meeting last week to address the issue.
Mayor Jim Moffat said the hill has been an iconic landmark in the community since 1957.
"The Ski Club was established to support the success of the Ski Hill and thousands of volunteer hours have been committed to making our operation successful
over the years," Moffat said in the news release. "2023 will be no exception and we look forward to welcoming new and returning users to Kiwissa Ski Hill."
The hill opened for the season earlier this month, and is open on weekends from noon to 5 p.m. with 10 runs.
