SUPERIOR NORTH — Provincial police saw almost no change in the number of calls during last week's reporting period.

OPP responded to 436 calls for service in the areas overseen by detachments in Nipigon, Marathon and Greenstone, compared to 438 last week.

Police were busiest with property checks, issuing eTickets, conducting R.I.D.E. programs and providing community services.

Almost half of the calls police attended resulted in charges being laid.

OPP officers laid 170 criminal code and Highway Traffic Act charges; 64 in Greenstone, 51 in Nipigon and 55 in Marathon.

Across the area, that represents a 20 per cent decrease in charges being laid compared to last week.

The OPP is reminding the public about its online reporting system, which can be used as an alternative to having an officer attend a scene for a minor incident.

Citizen Self Reporting (CSR) was rolled out across the province in 2014 to report certain minor incidents and crimes.
