SUPERIOR NORTH — OPP saw a decrease in calls for service in the region last week.

A total of 509 incidents were logged by provincial police that patrol Nipigon, Marathon and Greenstone during the week of April 21 to 27.

That's a 21 per cent decrease from the week before

Responding to calls in Marathon, Nipigon, and Greenstone, officers issued a total of 291 charges combined, with Greenstone owning the bulk of those, with 165 for Highway Traffic Act charges alone.

The OPP is also reminding the public about its online reporting system, which can be used as an alternative to having an officer attend a scene for a minor incident.

The citizen self-reporting system was rolled out across the province in 2014 to report certain minor incidents and crimes.
