SUPERIOR NORTH — OPP in the region a nearly 10 per cent increase in call volume last week.

During the reporting period from May 26 to June 1, officers in Nipigon, Greenstone, and Marathon responded to 518 calls for servicecompared to 472 the previous week

eTickets, property checks, and conducting R.I.D.E. programs were the main reasons the OPP responded to reported incidents.

Across the three detachments, Greenstone reported the most charges laid, with 93, while Marathon and Nipigon trailed behind at 74 and 46, respectively.

Combined, all three laid a total of 216 charges during that time period.

The OPP is also reminding the public about its online reporting system, which can be used as an alternative to having an officer attend a scene for a minor incident.

The citizen self-reporting system was rolled out across the province in 2014 to report certain minor incidents and crimes.
