SCHREIBER – Community members are invited to spend time together Sunday night while honouring the memory of those they miss.
Hosted by Schreiber’s Beautification Committee, Light Up the Night will take place at 6 p.m. at the Schreiber cemetery.
Schreiber Mayor Kevin Mullins hopes to see members of the community take this opportunity to come together and honour the people from their past.
“It's always important, It's especially important, I mean, it's 365 days a year, but I I really think it's especially important around Christmas time when all the families [are] together,” he said.
“It's just a great event and it's a feel-good event, the clergies there, they say a few words and we [have] some people singing, it's a fun event for a lot of people and an important event for a lot of people also.”
Mullins said community events like this that bring people together are even more important for those who may have a tough time this time of year.
“It's just about getting them out and getting them over there and just getting together and and whatever comes with the event that night,” he said.
“Some people just view it differently than others, and it's just a feel-good event, really.”
Complimentary hot chocolate and cookies will be available at the event and ice candles will be available by donation. Community members are also encouraged to bring their own candles.
