TERRACE BAY—With positive COVID-19 cases still being reported in the region, the North of Superior Health Care Group and North Shore Family Health Team, want residents to still follow public health guidelines.
In a recent notice posted on their Facebook page, they indicate that they estimate that cases that are reported tend to underestimate the true number of COVID-19 cases. They stated that, “As rapid tests are voluntarily reported and PCR tests are limited to high-risk individuals, we estimate that the number of cases reported significantly underestimate the true number of people with COVID-19 in our communities. For this reason, reported case numbers should be interpreted with caution and should only be used as a signal that COVID-19, likely the Omicron variant is circulating in our communities.”
As a result, and to help these organizations more accurately track the number of new positive cases in their community and region, they ask that individuals who test positive on a rapid antigen test, to report their results by calling 807-825-3273 ext. 136; and to leave a message if needed.
They want everyone to know that they understand that this is a difficult and often confusing time, but they want the public to continue following all public health guidance. In that way, we can all help to limiting the spread of the virus in their communities.
