LONGLAC—On Sept. 30, at 11:00 a.m. the Longlac Thunderbird Child and Family Centre and the Thunderbird Friendship Centre is hosting a walk for Orange shirt day, "EVERY CHILD MATTERS" on National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.
Interested participants are asked to meet the group from the Centre in front of Marjorie Mills Public School, (MMPS) and at Our lady of Fatima, (OLOF).
Students attending MMPS and OLOF, will also be participating in the walk which will be followed by lunch hosted by the Friendship Center. School officials invite everyone wishing to attend to join them in the walk.
The history behind the "Orange shirt day" is to honour the lives of the survivor's of Canada's residential school system.
Thunderbird Child and Family Centre provides a wide range of community-based and culturally appropriate programs and services to Indigenous peoples residing in the area.
