HORNEPAYNE—After years of delay due to a global pandemic, the Township of Hornepayne in partnership with Winnipeg based Rideout Bay Developments is pleased to announce that construction of a new motel will commence in August.
Town councillor Drago Stefanic believes that, “A new motel presents many economic opportunities for the community,” said Stefanic. Aside from having the town host conferences, tourists and sporting teams, Stefanic says that the new Motel 6 will also make it easier for families. Travelling families, visitors, contract workers need a place to stay.
The new Studio 6 Stay Suites will be built on Becker Road in Hornepayne next to the R.W. Anderson Recreation Park and Hornepayne’s Three Bears Monument, a beloved symbol of the city.
The mayor of Hornepayne believes this hotel will be an integral part of the city tourism industry, and a positive force behind business development, economic development and growth and social opportunities for residents and the public alike. “We need places created to stay for workers on the way in, visitors, contractors, families and friends,” stated Mayor Cheryl Fort.
The Hotel will feature an all-suite concept good for both short- and long-term stays with each unit to have a full kitchen facility and a sitting area. “Rideout Bay Developments along with Studio 6 are grateful to the Township of Hornepayne for its support in bringing a high-quality hotel to the Geographic Centre of Ontario,” stated Ben Cohen, CEO, Rideout Bay Developments Inc.
Hotel construction is scheduled to start this August, with completion by Christmas 2022.
