Make sure kids are ready for day camp

Making sure kids are ready for day camp can be less stressful by following some useful tips offered by Porcupine Health Unit.

HORNEPAYNE—Sending children to day camp is part of summer time fun. Making sure that your child is prepared for it is something Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) wants to help families with.

Most importantly, PHU reminds parents and guardians to make sure that your child remembers to screen daily before entering the day camp premises using the provincial COVID-19 school and child care screening tool. Visit: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/

Preparing your child for day camp can be less stressful by following the following tips provided by PHU.

  • Explain that camp this year will be different because of COVID-19.
  • Instruct your child not to share food, toys or other personal items.
  • Teach children proper handwashing and coughing and sneezing etiquette.
  • Remind kids about physical distancing and to follow instructions from staff.
  • Monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and keep children home if they are sick.
  • Answer health screening questions before dropping off your child.

As a final note, Porcupine Health Unit wants to inform parents and guardians that it is not too late to get your child vaccinated. To book an appointment go to: phu.fyi/covid-vaccine .
