Man arrested after handgun was fired

A 45-year-old man from Marten Falls First Nation is charged with multiple offences.

MARTEN FALLS -- Nishnawbe Aski Police officers responded to reports of gunfire at a home in Marten Falls on the afternoon of Feb. 25. 

When police arrived, they determined a male who owned a handgun had fired off a round and was waving the gun around carelessly. 

Police also determined children were inside the home. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. Police found the firearm near the scene and seized it. 
 
Officers arrested the man without incident. During the arrest officers found two knives in his possession, which he was prohibited from owning due to an active court order. 

A 45-year-old man from Marten Falls First Nation is charged with multiple offences. He remains in custody with a future court date in Thunder Bay.
