GINOOGAMING — A local man is facing arson and break and enter charges after a house fire in Ginoogaming First Nation on the weekend.
On the afternoon of July 19, 2025, Anishinabek Police Service officers, Superior North EMS and the Greenstone Fire Department all responded to the fire in Ginoogaming First Nation, according to a media release issued by police late Wednesday afternoon.
The house was unoccupied at the time and no one was injured in the fire, police said.
A 49-year-old man from Ginoogaming First Nation was arrested a short time later and is charged with one count of break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence and one count if arson (damage to property).
Police did not release the name of the accused.
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing, according to police.
