Man charged with arson in connection with suspicious Longlac fire

Arson charges have been laid following an incident in Longlac this month.

LONGLAC -- A Ginoogaming First Nation resident is facing arson charges following an apartment fire in Longlac earlier this month.

Ontario Provincial Police along with Greenstone Fire Department received a report of a structure fire on April 13 around 7:45 p.m. at an apartment complex on Kenogami Road in Longlac.

Police and fire crews arrived on scene to find a working structure fire in one of the apartment units.

The fire was quickly brought under control and there were no injuries reported. The fire was contained to the single unit.

The fire had been deemed suspicious and fire investigators were called to the scene to investigate.

On Tuesday, April 26, Devin Legarde of Ginoogaming was arrested and charged with arson.

The accused remains in custody for a bail hearing on Friday, April 29.
