MANITOUWADGE – Manitouwadge town council earlier this week named Fire Chief Don Kruger as its emergency management coordinator.

All communities in Ontario are required to appoint a municipal employee to the role and to have an emergency management program.

The appointment was confirmed at Wednesday’s town council meeting.

It wasn’t the only appointment council made this month.

They passed a bylaw naming Joleen Keough as the community’s deputy chief administrative officer, responsible for exercising general control over the management and affairs of the township of Manitouwadge in the absence of the CAO.

The bylaw came into effect on Jan. 1.
