Hypnotist Fernandez will be performing in Manitouwadge on Friday.

Santé Manitouwadge Hospital is hosting a fun filled evening of hypnosis, mentalism, and a bit of the paranormal as part of their ‘2023 Bed, Golf and Beyond’ fundraiser.

Fernandez is one of the premier hypnotists in the world today whose performance has been described as ‘a mind-boggling presentation where members of the audience volunteer to create the most incredible and hilarious hypnosis show you will ever witness.’ His stage show highlights a variety of insights into the world of the psyche and psychic phenomenon, including mentalism, hypnosis, and a slight detour into the realm of the paranormal.

Fernandez offers assurances that his goal is to entertain, not frighten his audience. He promises he won’t have his volunteers cluck like a chicken while onstage, but rather guides the individual, regardless of their level of skepticism, into temporarily believing that they’re a famous person, become an officer of the ‘laughter police,’ or other light-hearted shenanigans.

The audience members will also get a chance to participate in the action; he invites people to perform simple acts right in their seats. At his suggestions, you may find your hands stuck together, or have an imaginary bowling ball in one hand and a balloon in the other. Fernandez expertly steers the show and its participants, amusing and entertaining everyone in the theatre.

“You’ll have a great time,” the talented entertainer promises. “You can be the star of the show, or you can just watch and be entertained. Either way, you’re in for a great experience!”

Fernandez has been in show business almost all his life. His family moved from Cuba to the Toronto area when the budding entertainer was only five years old. He explored his talents in a variety of show-biz acts, dabbling in magic, hypnosis, and even a bird act when he was a teenager! He’s traveled the world since then, honing his craft at casinos, conventions, and other venues, as well as on cruises and TV shows, such as The Unexplained, with Allen Spraggett, Mr. Dressup, Merv Griffin, and The Tonight Show. He was the magic consultant on the movie, Abracadabra. He also performed with such stars as Jerry Lewis, Bob Hope, Dan Aykroyd, and was a regular in Liberace’s glittering Las Vegas act. His Manitouwadge show takes place on Friday at 8 p.m. The venue, originally the golf clubhouse, has changed to KG’s Bar & Lounge. Show prices have changed, also. Tickets are now available for $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Age of majority is required.

The ‘Bed, Golf and Beyond’ golf tournament, the proceeds of which will go toward funding new beds for the long care and acute care units at the Santé Manitouwadge Hospital, takes place on June 17, but registration closes on Saturday.

For tickets to the show or to register for the tournament, you can call or text Jordan Britt at (807) 826-3251 Ext. 200, or (807) 709-0270, or email her at fundraising@mh.on.ca
