MANITOUWADGE—The Municipality of Manitouwadge knows how so many of its residents enjoy their flower beds and gardens. To help some enjoy this even more this summer, it is offering them the opportunity to adopt a flower bed.
It shared recently that it has four flower beds left as part of their community, Adopt-A-Flower Bed program; two on Manitou Road, one on Oshweken and one in front of the fire hall.
The program is a volunteer-based activity where local businesses and volunteer groups “adopt” and maintain designed flower beds in Manitouwadge.
If you would like to adopt a flower bed or would like more information, you are encouraged to contact Nickie at [email protected] or 826-3227, ext. 237.
Program guidelines state that flowerbeds will be adopted for the whole growing season, tentatively running from June until September. Those who choose to adopt a flowerbed, will volunteer to provide their own hand tools for maintenance, notify the township with any concerns, plant flowers supplied by the township and weed and remove any litter.
The municipality shared their responsibilities with this program and stated that they would provide and water the flower beds, and acknowledge the adoption with signage placed by the flowerbed.
