MANITOUWADGE -- The Manitouwadge Community Services is hosting a day of activities in the downtown Hallmark Square shopping mall parking lot on Saturday, Aug. 20.

Come on down and check out the lineup of classic and muscle cars, trucks, ATVs, 4-wheelers, side-by-sides, motorcycles and other vehicles at the downtown ‘Show and Shine’ display from noon until 3 p.m.

Visit the outdoor vendor’s market where you will find a wide array of arts and crafts made by local artisans.  Retail stores will be open for shopping, and you can be sure to find some great sales, either inside the stores or at tables set up in order for the businesses not located in the downtown core to participate. The businesses that have signed up to join this event so far are 2 Doors Down, Moosetrax, Napa and Studio 614. Home Hardware will participate from their location on Station Road, and Audrey’s restaurant will be open for lunch from 1 to 3 p.m.

Manroc and Manitouwadge Contracting Limited will be bringing in some of the large pieces of equipment they use at their worksites; there will be representatives there to answer your questions about their businesses and the equipment.

And if that’s not enough fun, you can join in on the Mani-opoly game! The participating businesses will each have their own unique sticker. When you make a purchase at their table or store, they will add their sticker to your score card. When all squares are filled with stickers, bring the card to the Community Services table and put your name in for a draw. This game is for all ages and takes place between 12 p.m.-3 p.m.

“It’s important that we promote an attitude of ‘Shop local’ in order to keep our businesses running in Manitouwadge,” says Ryleigh Clark, the township’s special events coordinator. “At first this event was just to shop local, but there’s so much more to Manitouwadge to see.”

There is still time to register for the ‘Show and Shine’ auto show and the vendor’s tables. There is no charge for either event, they just need to know how many tables are needed and how many parking spots to block off!  If you want to participate, please register with Ryleigh at specialevents@manitouwadge.ca.

Watch the Manitouwadge Community Services Facebook page all this week for more information.
